This video featuring John Piper gives an accurate assessment of the American Church. He’s right that America is slowly awakening from a “distortion of dominance and prosperity.” We’ve got a distorted understanding of what it means to be an “alien”. I especially like his statement that he has “a longing not to be a domesticated, comfort-seeking, entertainment-addicted, prosperity-loving, security-craving, approval-desiring Christian.” Clearly, this is his assessment of American Christianity. He does not offer solutions in this video, and—no doubt—his solutions might differ from the ones we are promoting, but he obviously agrees that “something’s wrong.”
